Unify Communication between Mayor and ALL City Council

1. Taxes

I am going to hold the line on taxes with the goal of lowering taxes throughout my tenure. I am going to accomplish this by evaluating how our tax dollars are spent and how we can increase revenue. As revenue goes up, taxes go down. Revenue is generated through bringing new businesses to the city, new houses on the tax rolls, and an increase in tourism. We can also offset costs through grants that can be applied to infrastructure and city projects.

2. Sewers and Flooding

To address the sewers and flooding we have to work in accordance with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) regulations. I have worked collaboratively with the DEC for over 30 years. As Mayor, I will use that partnership to expedite the evaluation of our drainage problems. I know this first hand because I live in a flooding area.

3. Initiate more Economic Development and Growth

With over 30 years as a successful business owner, I understand how business relationships work. I understand how important it is to have good working relationships with the business in our city. By having a reputation of being open and friendly to business, this allows new business owners to set roots in our city with confidence.

4. Homeless Outreach

As a community, we have seen the homeless population increase in our city. As Mayor, I will partner with Erie County Crisis Services and Homeless Alliance to help assist people in need. I will also ensure that our law enforcement partners have the tools that they need to assist people in the most humane way possible.

5. Overnight Parking Restrictions

Having a parking restriction that starts on October 1st of every year regardless of weather does a disservice to every resident and visitor. One of my first goals is to work with the Council to change the city ordinance relating to parking rules and regulations. At the very least, the Office of The Mayor has the authority to use Executive Order to adjust the parking regulations by 30 days, contingent on weather conditions. This means the overnight parking restrictions can be adjusted from the current date to October 31st by the Mayor at the request of the constituents. I will help to make parking more convenient for city residents and their guests.

6. Mayor's Literacy Program

Reading is fundamental for children to expand vocabulary and succeed in school. I am going to create the City of Tonawanda's first Mayor's Literacy Program to encourage local children to continue reading and learning during summer break. This program will allow participants to earn a Mayor's "Super Reader!" Diploma and be entered in a chance to win some fun prizes. This program will encourage the love of reading. Children who read are children who succeed.

7. Unifying Communication between Mayor and ALL City Council

As Mayor, I commit to working with the City Council. A city can only run smooth, if ALL elected officials are willing to work together. I will work with each City Council member to bring what is best for our city and our community.
